Enchanted with a beautiful architecture and mysterious vibe that this city has (let’s not forget that neo-gothic style is just what it’s name says – a new Gothic), soon we found ourselves completely wrapped in a magic of centuries old buildings and alleys, as well as in hospitality of its inhabitants. (Gothic or not, we must say that we haven’t encountered any creature from “Underworld” movie series, so I must assume that at least some of it must be a fiction…maybe?) But let’s just stop right there, or this will be just another (semi-boring) travelogue. Let’s talk business!

So we were there, in Budapest, to shoot some nice editorials and stuff (and to have fun in the process, of course) …and then we saw IT. Remember last year’s semi-classic, Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel”? Well, we stayed in it! Ok, maybe NOT exactly in IT (hotel from the movie is a fictional place after all), but definitely in a closest thing possible to the place skillfully managed by Ralph Fiennes in this year`s multiple Oscar winner.

With rich history that is ridiculously similar to the one pictured in a movie, Corinthia Hotel Budapest has a magic of its own.. This luxury hotel survived a lot – two World Wars, occupation of Budapest and years (and years, and years…) of communist rule in this beautiful country. Severely damaged in all possible (bad) events that befell Budapest, this hotel managed to rise from its own ashes, just like that famous bird from a legend.

Now owned and managed by prestigious Corinthia Group, this hotel finally shines in all its glory and presents one of the must-see places in this part of Europe.

Now, let’s back to the movies for a minute. No, I don’t want to bore you to death with all Hollywood pictures that are filmed in Budapest, nor shall I continue to drone on about “The Grand Budapest Hotel”. I just want to share what made the biggest impression on me and what (maybe) inspired me the most. For writing and stuff, you know…artistic kind of thing…. You see, Corinthia Hotel Budapest (then known under the name “Grand Hotel Royal”) was the most important place for the art of filmmaking (almost) from its very inception. In Corinthia’s magnificent Grand Ballroom, Lumière brothers held their first projection outside of Paris, way back in 1896! And soon, that same ballroom became the very FIRST cinema in all Europe! So you can imagine the feeling that a guy (who foolishly considers himself a screenwriter) had, while walking in the place that literally MADE movie history. And not just that! My team and I decided that opulent (and completely renovated) Grand Ballroom would be a perfect spot for shooting an editorial, so I put on my fantastic Valter Beko velvet jacket, as well as Police shades and…dreams became a reality, at least for a while!

Shooting in a place like that, where European nobility watched first motion pictures ever made and where crowned heads enjoyed themselves in lavish parties more than century ago, makes you feel so small, yet very proud at the same time. Somehow, just being in that place feels like you’re part of something important, something larger than life. Corinthia’s magic, that’s what it is. So we shot that editorial and truly enjoyed ourselves while doing it. Soon it was all over and we returned to exploring beautiful Budapest, with its Gargoyle-adorned buildings and strong reminiscence of times past. Actually, It occurs to me that the past meets the present here in Budapest. In a way, two ethereal planes are somehow interconnected under its cloudy sky, with only a glimpse into the third one, the future. This city went through the times of glory and the times of gloom and became one of the historically most important cities in Europe, only with better architecture! And with hidden legions of vampires and werewolves, who rarely (if ever) mingle in human’s business. Ok. I made that up. Definitely.

Walking these colorful streets, we kinda felt like a part of this place, which I think we’ll be visiting on regular basis. And what about Corinthia and its Grand Ballroom? Well, if it’s good for numerous celebrities and crème de la crème of European society, is it possible not to be impressed and enchanted for life with this magical place? For yours truly, a passionate movie buff and true conformist, the answer is definitely rhetoric.

Today’s look is a bit dark and edgy inspired by my everlasting inspiration rock ‘n’ roll. Maybe many of you can’t imagine wearing total look like this, but even choosing one peace will add boldness to your outfit. Of course you need to pull it off. Rock ‘n’ roll is never dead in fashion. I love designers Hedi Slimane and John Varvatos that rock this style in their collections and recently I have discovered a young designer Marko Glavinic who creates quite interesting menswear collections, that I can define as glam and bold. We shot this editorial in the magnificent Buddha Bar Hotel Klotild Palace Budapest whose interior covered in red made the total look stand out.

Fashion has no definite rules when it comes to layering and matching. So have fun and rock on!

We all need that safe look, that you may wear wherever you go. That exclude suit&tie, lol. Well, this one is quite safe but yet modern and interesting. I am wearing a jacket by Srdjan Jankovic, with the perfect cut and stand collar. I really love his work and I am a fan of his jackets that are modern but also elegant enough to be worn on almost every occasion. For this look I chose my new Ray-Ban Round Metal sunglasses. These timeless round sunglasses feature a retro look first worn by legendary musicians and inspired by the counter-culture of the 1960’s. Round Metal RB3447 sunglasses are not only iconic, but also add boldness to your look.

I have recently discovered Daniel Wellington classy watches with timeless style. I am wearing Classic Sheffield. This timepiece is  very well built and gives you possibility to completely change its appearance by adding various NATO straps (those of us who like James Bond movies knows what I’m talking about) , that Daniel Wellington also produces.

Inspired with 60s and black and white movies we created editorial with a dose of nostalgie. Thinking about style icons like Marcello Mastroianni, Steve McQueen, Jean-Paul Belmondo and personal hero of mine Michael Caine, we wanted to re-create their style and to paint our city in black and white. To bring this story alive, I am wearing a suit by Valter, designed by Branislav Peric, and perfectly tailored shirt by Jack Sena. I beleive that in the 60s every true gentleman had personal tailor, and now I understand why.

Glamour invites us to live in a different world. It has to simultaneously be mysterious, a little bit distant – that’s why, often in these glamour shots, the person is not looking at the audience, it’s why sunglasses are glamorous. One peace of wardrobe has the same glamorous and mysterious effect in menswear collections and it comes in a form of black velvet blazer.  These sentences describe my total look by Valter Beko that we shot in the magnificent ballroom of the  Corinthia hotel in Budapest.

Since its very opening in late 19th century, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest, then known as the Grand Hotel Royal, was and still is the symbol of everlasting luxury and glamour in this part of Europe, combining strong french influence with impeccable Eastern-European charm.  The Corinthia Hotel Budapest played an interesting role in the origins of European cinema back in 1896 when the Lumière brothers, who invented motion pictures, held their first film screening outside of Paris in this exact ballroom, that became the first movie house on the continent. Since then this charming hotel has become the darling of filmmakers and movie stars, such as: Josephine Baker, Catherine Deneuve, Eva Green, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Helen Mirren among them, and let’s not forget the great Andrew Lloyd Weber, who was a guest while filming his musical “Evita”. It comes as no surprise if you take into account the Corinthia’s gorgeous ambiance, stunning architecture and elegant restaurants.

When I look at the design of Adidas’ bestseller, the first thing that pops to my mind is a legendary rap group Run DMC and their tribute song “My Adidas”, which was directly inspired by their trademark Superstar sneakers. That song led to the first endorsement deal between hip-hop artists and major corporation and also made Adidas Superstar not only great sneakers, but also placed them in a category of perfect everyday shoes that adds perfect touch of coolness to various street styles.

Growing up with this model of my favorite sports brand, it’s a real pleasure to make some interesting combinations with it. Nowadays Superstar become favorite piece in the fashion circles which now includes more formal wear that goes perfectly well with these classics.

Shooting in absolutely fantastic Aria Hotel in Budapest, dressed in this awesome coat and shirt made by Valter Beko, not only that I proudly wear my Superstars, I feel like one, too. And it goes without saying, what is a superstar without shades? My favorites at this moment are Police Neymar Jr.
